I believe it is the boldness of the color and the feel of the fluid paint that stimulates their creative side. This is a delightful picture book that tells the story of a child's creative side even in the face of wanting to please his parents by not making a mess. Woobie is mesmerized by watching his mother paint and, of course, wants to domesmerized by watching his mother paint and, of course, wants to do what mother is doing. Children have a need to imitate what they see, especially their parents' activities. So mother says it is One for Woobie to paint also, but, to be careful not to spill and make a mess. Woobie happily sets up his space to paint and is soon fast at work, lost in a zone of creativity. Excited about his creation, Woobie is delighted when Dad comes to inspect his masterpiece! But like many adults - especially parents - the first observation is the mess that Woobie has made.
